Yes! I work with individuals and relationships. The Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) distinction means that I was trained to work with systems & relationships as well as individuals. Additionally, it is important acknowledge that the "MFT" label is limiting, and ignores many different relationship types & structures.
Sixtus Therapy offers remote sessions.
While this is not the best fit for all folks seeking therapy, as a chronically ill and immunocompromised person, it is what I'm able to offer as a therapist. I appreciate your understanding!
Standard sessions are 50 minutes long for individuals. For relationships, I offer 75 minute sessions.
Frequency-wise we can meet weekly, every other week, 1x every 4 weeks or as-needed.
The latter two options are reserved for folks who are close to accomplishing their therapeutic goals but would like some support as they work on maintenance of their skills.
I don't. Sixtus is private pay only. See the payment page for a little more information on that decision.
When questions like this get asked, the intent is (usually) about figuring out if you're going to be safe and accepted. Sixtus Therapy is committed to the following: honoring your experience and autonomy. That means, this space is gender affirming, affirming of sexuality, sex positive, pro-choice, affirming of neurodivergence, neurodiversity and committed to ongoing anti-racist work.
A few things! We can still do a consultation to see if it's a good fit for us to work together. If so, we can discuss joining the waitlist or, how I can support you in your search for another therapist. If it's not a good fit, I can also support you in your search.
Sixtus means "scraped, polished" I like to think of it as an acknowledgement of how our life experiences can shape us, and how we can engage with change intentionally.
If you google 'sixtus' chances are that you'll see a few Popes show up. While my values are generally not in alignment with the Catholic Church, I can respect that some Popes had good style with regards to choosing a name.
